They both started out together. He wanted fame, power, and money —the world. She wanted recognition.
His ambition drove him. Her dreams kept her going. Somewhere their paths divulged. She was in awe of his passion and largesse, but his pomposity put her off. He saw her as just another name among many others.
They walked a few steps, stumbling and trying to find some common ground. Fate intervened, and they picked their separate paths.
He went ahead, rising higher in rank and authority, higher than his peers could reach. Stories of his fame and power resonated across the globe. She heard about him and smiled with warmth.
She wove her dreams into stories. He thought about her, every night, as he read bedtime stores written by her, to his daughter. He kept the book next to all his favourite authors. She was just another name, among many others.
